Organization history

Ideas that helped shape the farm.

Before the current rebuild, Matti's Farm tested and planned practical ways to connect agriculture, sustainability, education and youth.

Composting

Turning Kenai fish waste into soil.

The legacy Progress page describes Matti's Farm raising funds by composting organic waste, especially fish waste from dipnetting, and turning it into nutrient-rich soil.

Education vision

A greenhouse that could travel to students.

The organization explored converting a bus into a mobile greenhouse that could visit schools and demonstrate growing, harvesting and composting as one connected food cycle.

Starting small at Diamond M.

While looking for a larger permanent farm site, the organization planned to test its ideas on a smaller scale using Carrol and JoAnne Martin's old house on the Diamond M Ranch property.

Equipment and growth.

The old site identified a compost screener and bagger as next-step equipment and described the long-term goal of a larger parcel dedicated to Matti's Farm in the Kenai-Soldotna area.

Historical status: These are documented past plans and projects. They are preserved here as organizational history and are not presented as current programs unless Matti's Farm confirms they have resumed.
